Khalid had spent quite a long time in Europe and in Qatar before returning to build his dream abode in his hometown in Tirur, Malappuram. Impressed by some of the architectural styles and techniques that he had seen abroad, Khalid had incorporated them into his brand new house here. The cement finished walls and glass windows without grills are some of them.

Many had tried to dissuade him from trying these designs, warning him that they could pose security threats. However, the owner was determined to install the glass windows, that attract instant attention for their classy looks. He vows that it is easier for burglars to enter the house through the front door than to break open these sturdy windows.

The elevation features an elegant box-style design. Some part of the elevation is done in cement finish while the rest has been painted in cement-finished emulsion. This grants a spectacular old-world charm to the elevation of the house.

Instead of levelling the plot that lies below the road level, the structure has been built with a pillar-beam-slab foundation. The owner says that a hefty sum was spent to build this sturdy foundation. Meanwhile, the roof is done using filler slab technology. This makes the interior cooler by reducing the heat.

The gateway, with the sliding gate, perfectly complements the amazing theme of the house. Interestingly, most of the trees have been retained in the front yard. Meanwhile, the yard has been paved with stones and natural grass in alternate layers.

This beautiful abode, designed in 2950 sqft, has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, courtyard, dining area, kitchen and four bedrooms.

As the family doesn’t live here permanently, the car porch isn’t built. The sit out, meanwhile, has been turned into a green spot with lots of indoor plants. Besides, there is an open courtyard too here. The bamboo tree that is planted here has grown through the hole in the ceiling. A pergola in GI too has been built in the balcony.

In-built benches are arranged in the sit out to make it a cosy space. The family says that relaxing amid the mesmerizing greenery here is truly a unique feeling.

The living and the dining areas are designed in double height to make them look and feel vaster. Grey coloured marbonite has been used for flooring to grant a rustic look to the interiors. Meanwhile, the furniture is done in GI pipe and plywood finish.

The majestic glass window in triple height is the highlight of the interiors. Natural sunshine enters the house in abundance through this window. The chairs in the dining area feature upholstery work done on GI pipe.

The island kitchen is chic and boasts of all the modern facilities. A quaint breakfast counter too has been arranged close to the countertop. The cabinets here are done in GI pipe and bison panel with mica finish.

A connecting bridge on the upper floor allows a splendid view of the ground floor. Two bedrooms each have been arranged on both the floors. The bedrooms too are designed in the rustic theme. The rooms have attached bathrooms and wardrobes for storage.

The pleasant ambience of the inner spaces makes the rustic theme pop. Meanwhile, the profile lights on the structure add more dimension and charm to this fabulous dwelling during nighttime.
